Hitachi Software Showcases New StarBoard® Interactive Presentation Products at Educause 2006

StarBoard FX-Series interactive whiteboards and T-Series panels are joined by upgraded Version 7.1 software, new BT-2G Bluetooth Wireless System and the launch of Mac Version 2.0LE software

DALLAS, TEXAS, www.hitachi.us, October 9, 2006 — Upholding its commitment to providing the education market with reliable, high-performance presentation products, Hitachi Software Engineering America, Ltd. brings to Educause 2006 a host of new interactive StarBoard software, tablet and whiteboard products to support educators and educational facilities with the latest in user-friendly presentation technologies. This year’s show will feature new software product debuts for both Windows® and Mac® users, as well as the introduction of a new Bluetooth tablet, BT-2G. In addition to these product launches, Hitachi Software will showcase its recently released FX Series of interactive whiteboards and T-Series of interactive presentation panels.

Hitachi Software’s easy-to-use StarBoard Software enables users to run and annotate computer applications directly on its interactive StarBoard whiteboard, panel and tablet products using the supplied pen device. At Educause 2006, Hitachi Software will release StarBoard Software Version 7.1 of this Windows-based software, providing users with advanced projector control, deferred hand-writing recognition and MSI Installer to install the software from a network server.

The unique StarBoard Software Version 7.1 allows a wireless two-button pen device to function as a mouse to operate the PC or as a pen to annotate and edit documents, which can be saved as screen shots in Starboard Software or as Windows software applications.

Also debuting at Educause is StarBoard Software LE Version 2.0 for Mac users. This is the first U.S. release of the Mac-compatible version of StarBoard Software, which is compatible with Hitachi Software T-17SXL and T-15XL interactive panels, as well as FX-63, FX-77 and FX-82 interactive whiteboard products. Users are able to operate LE version 2.0 using the wireless, two-button pen, as well as the function buttons on the T-17SXL panel.

Offering a truly interactive learning environment, the Starboard BT-2G Bluetooth Wireless System Tablet is a lightweight, handheld, pen-operated Bluetooth tablet accessory that enables wireless remote operation of the T-Series and FX Series products. With a range of 65 feet, the BT-2G provides educators and presenters with even more freedom to move around the room. Ideal for portability, the compact unit is 9.5” x 10” x 1.2” and weighs about a pound. As many as seven BT-2G Tablets can be connected to a PC running StarBoard Software, allowing educators to issue several BT-2G tablets around a room for students to easily contribute both verbally and visually during discussions and lectures.

Hitachi Software’s FX Series of interactive whiteboards offers users with larger image areas, fast tracking speed and a wide spectrum of features. These versatile presentation systems are ideal for use in schools due to their steadfast durability and reliability. The easy-to-operate systems are available in screen sizes of 63,” 77” and 82” and are available in a choice of USB wired or Bluetooth wireless configurations. The FX-63, FX-77 and FX-82 feature customizable function buttons that enable the operation of StarBoard software without the constant use of on-screen menus.

Rounding out Hitachi Software’s Educause 2006 product showcase are the T-17SXL and T-15XL interactive panels. The pen-driven, compact T-15XL includes a 15-inch XGA resolution LCD screen. The SXGA resolution 17-inch T-17SXL LCD display features frequently used function buttons along the top edge of the panel for quick and simple menu access and operation. Both desktop panels include a two-button wireless pen and allow an educator to face his or her classroom while annotating on the board, maintaining a direct and interactive presentation style.
