Hitachi Software Revamps StarBoard® Interactive Presentation Software with Upgrade to Version 7.1

DALLAS, TEXAS, www.hitachi.us, October 9, 2006 — Hitachi Software today launched StarBoard Software version 7.1, an upgrade to the advanced interactive presentation software that allows presenters and educators to annotate directly on an existing platform program. Announced at Educause 2006, this new upgrade to the StarBoard Software features deferred hand-writing recognition and projector control, providing end-users in the education and corporate markets with an even more powerful and versatile interactive presentation solution.

The new StarBoard Software version 7.1 represents the latest technologies available for interactive presentations. Several of the features included in version 7.1 are:

• Deferred hand-writing recognition enabling users to change handwriting into text, as well as control the timing of when that change occurs
• TWAIN Support feature allows user to import the image captures from the TWAIN device into the StarBoard Software
• MSI Installer provides the ability to deploy the software automatically from a network server
• Projector Control feature allows user to control the Hitachi projector on a network (using PJman software control), enabling user to power the projector on or off, as well as switch input mode

Hitachi StarBoard Software version 7.1 for Windows® applications is now available and is included with all new StarBoard Systems including interactive whiteboards, panels and plasmas. For Mac® users, Hitachi Software also offers the StarBoard Software LE version 2.0 for Mac applications.

The Hitachi Software StarBoard family of products includes the StarBoard FX-Series of interactive whiteboards widely used in both education and business applications; the StarBoard T-Series interactive panels with applications in lecture halls and training rooms allowing presenters and teachers the ability to face the class while manipulating the screen; the lightweight StarBoard BT-2G Bluetooth Tablet system that is small enough to be portable and allows presenters to roam up to 65 feet away and still control a presentation; and the StarBoard P-55X interactive plasma display for use in smaller boardrooms or classrooms.
