Application Customization
Some well-tested and mature applications-such as word processing, spreadsheet, e-mail and accounting systems-may not require customization. However, applications such as customer relationship management (CRM) and enterprise resource planning (ERP) do require customization. No two enterprises approach their customers in the same fashion, and not all applications are designed to fit every enterprise's special needs. Certain changes or additions call for changing of application codes in order to maximize return on investment. When a new version of an application is released, the new version must also be customized before the upgrade can be completed.
